Waste
With our waste management expertise and support, we can help you integrate sustainable practices seamlessly into your operations and navigate the step towards an environmentally friendly future. We get that every business is unique and there’s no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution, so our experts make sure your waste contract is the right fit just for you.
What is commercial waste?
Commercial waste is any waste generated by a business on its premises. So, whether you run an office, a construction or demolition site, a recreation centre, educational or an entertainment establishment – we’ve got all your waste covered.
And just to be clear, any waste produced by a business falls under the commercial category. That includes (but not limited to) …
• General waste; Non-hazardous materials such as packaging and food waste.
• Recyclable waste: Paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and metal.
• Food waste: Especially in the hospitality and retail sectors.
• Hazardous waste: Chemicals, solvents, batteries and electronic waste.
• Construction and demolition waste: Concrete, bricks, metal and wood.
How do I know I’m doing it right?
In section 34 of the Environment Protection Act 1990 (the legislation which governs waste disposal, amongst other environmental considerations) states that your business has a ‘duty of care’ for the waste you produce. This includes:
Ensuring your waste is stored, transported and disposed of legally and safely
Ensuring any waste collection providers are licenced
Containing the waste within your control as much as possible
Storing it safely and securely
Preventing the waste from causing any damage to the environment or people
Having a waste transfer note of all waste collections to prove responsible disposable
Understand the strict regulations for handling, storing and disposing of hazardous waste
So, we use our energy to help your business get properly protected, pronto and stay clear of the fines and legal action.
What do I do now?
We can come to your site and carry out a free waste audit to understand what waste is being produced, how you can reduce it and advise you on the most cost-effective solution to deal with your waste, it’s all part of our service promise.
Once the correct service has been arranged and the relevant paperwork has been completed, we will arrange for the bins/sacks to be delivered. This process can take as little as a couple of days from your initial enquiry.
We will then let you know when your regular collection day/days will be and if more collections are required, just give your own Ecologic Waste Account Manager a call who will happily sort it.
How do I get started?
We don’t just set you up and leave you stranded; we are here to support your through the full journey. Some of the other good stuff we can do for your business waste:
Waste Audits: We will continue to carry out regular waste audits to assess your business’ waste management processes to identify any problems and work out some solutions just for you, so everything stays cost-effective and efficient.
Segregation: We can also show you how to separate your waste the right way to improve your recycling rates and reduce landfill costs.
Recycling Programs: Leave it to us and we will set up your on-site recycling for materials like paper, cardboard, glass, and plastics. We can also use your audits to see where you can reduce, reuse, and recycle materials in your own production and packaging. The way to a greener future for your business.
Composting Food Waste: Many businesses, especially in the food industry, can compost food waste or use anaerobic digestion services, we can sort this for you too.
Reducing your waste costs: We can work with your suppliers to reduce packaging and choose more sustainable materials.
Water
We can even sort your water contract too. We’ve got everything covered to help you create a water account that works for your business.
Merchant Services
We can help your business accept and process payments from your customers including online card payments and payments face to face. You will then be able to conduct transactions, receive payments, manage your finances more effectively and see the money come rolling in. Woo.
What’s a merchant account and do I need one?
A merchant account is basically a bank account set up through a payment processor that’s separate from your business bank account. Any money you take through card payments will go into your merchant account first, before being released into your business bank account.
This two-step process happens so that the transaction fees you have agreed with your acquirer can be deducted before any money goes into your business bank account. It’s an automatic process and you don’t need to do anything except check your monthly merchant account statements to make sure you’re on top of your cash flow. (So yes, you defo need a merchant account.)
What else do I need?
To accept card payments online you’ll need an online payment gateway that connects your website with your merchant account.
Don’t forget about card payments face to face too. You’ll need a card reader (or several card readers) to accept card payments when your customer is in front of you. You know, those things that take your money when you insert or tap your card.
And finally, if you accept payments by phone, mail or email you will need a virtual terminal. Using one is as easy as visiting a website, logging in, and inputting the customer’s card details and transaction amount when prompted. It’s basically the online version of a card reader you’d have in-store.
As well as transaction fees, there are card processing fees to pay too. These fees depend on what payment gateway or hardware (like card readers) you’ll need and how you want to take card payments.
Telecom & Broadband
Be it business phone lines, broadband or fibre, we can find a solution that fits and possibly saves you a few quid while we’re at it.
Unlimited
As epic as it sounds. Full unlimited business broadband with no hidden caps or charges so you can unleash the full power of your business with a service you can depend on. Woosh.
What type of tariffs can you get?
Fancy a fixed monthly plan? We can offer a single price that you’ll pay for the entirety of your contract, for example £25 a month for 12 months. However, if your contract demands that you pay per call, your bills will vary each month depending on usage. But the base price for these calls will remain the same.
How about a tiered plan?
Tiered plans can be a little more complicated as we offer a fixed price for one period then a variable price thereafter. For example, you might pay £20 a month for 12 months and then £25 a month for the following 12 months. However, the latter period of your contract might involve a percentage increase to keep in line with inflation. *Variable plans can see price changes at any point at your provider’s discretion.
